A disturbing incident has rocked Ikorodu community, as Ojokoro Unit Chairman, Road Transport Employee Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) identified as Akinola Odewabi was stabbed in the eye by Olamide popularly known as Idodo, the son of Ayoka Sherifat Awolesi, the Iyaloja (market leader) of Ewusu Market, Ikorodu.

According to Akinola who spoke to BlackBox Nigeria, the incident was the seventh of its kind done to people, with Olamide allegedly using his mother’s influence to afflict harm on people in the community.

The victim, a member of RTEAN and resides in Eyita Ikorodu, claimed that there was no prior altercation between him and Olamide, also known as Idodo.

“I was just going about my business when Olamide suddenly stabbed me in the eye when I was in the midst of my friends sitting. I didn’t see it coming, and I didn’t do anything to provoke him,” Akinola said, recalling the traumatic experience.

He further, “This guy has been tormenting everybody in the neighborhood. I’m the seventh victim of his assault. It’s not been up to a year that his mum was installed as Iyaloja but he has been using the influence to create chaos”

The incident has left Akinola profusely bleeding, and he has since reported the matter to the Sagamu Road Police Station.

However, despite the report, Akinola expressed disappointment that the police are yet to provide any feedback on the investigation.

“I’m worried that the police might not take action because of Olamide’s mother’s influence. I’m just seeking justice and hoping that the authorities will take my case seriously,” Akinola added.

The community is eagerly awaiting the outcome of the police investigation and hoping for justice to be served.

When contacted, Iyaloja Ayoka Sherifat, the mother of the alleged culprit told BlackBox Nigeria, that she wasn’t aware of the incident at first but later responded hastily to the victim when she was alerted.

“I was told by some people that it’s not my son that attacked first but the victim attacked was the one who pursue him and ran after him. Since the date of the incident, I haven’t sight the presence of my son whom they accused.”

“I was not informed on the night of the incident (Sunday 6th April, 2025) but the next day when I was alerted, I rushed to the scene of the incident and later to the hospital where the victim (Odewabi) but I didn’t see anyone there.

Speaking on the connection between Idodo and Odewabi, she said, “Both of them were working together and always sent him on errand as an indication of a mentor and a mentee. They (Odewabi and his friends) are the one that taught him everything he’s doing.”

However, the police didn’t release any information as regards the status of the case.
