By The lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson, on Saturday, organised a mega empowerment for his constituents.
The empowerment, which was held at the lawmaker’s constituency office along Ebute-Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, featured the distribution of 30 mini buses, 25 tricycles, 9 motorcycles and 70 freezers.
Other items doled out include 40 hairdryers, 30 vulcanizing machines, 45 generating sets, 2200 solar powered systems with fans, and 500 solar powered systems without fans.
Speaking at the event, Benson, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Defence, said the gesture was to enable the beneficiaries engage themselves in businesses and become self reliant.
The lawmaker noted that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from all the Local Governments and Local Council Developmental Areas (LCDAs) that make up Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
Benson also seized the opportunity to highlight some of the projects that were facilitated though his office, assuring them of more interventions.
Also speaking, Ibrahim Obanikoro, lawmaker, representing Etti-Osa Federal Constituency commended Benson for the intervention, and urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items given to them.
The event had in attendance traditional rulers led by the Ayagbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, local government chairmen in Ikorodu Division, APC LGA Chairmen, Councillors, party faithfuls, among others.
