The House Representatives on Thursday, March 16, 2017, mandated the Nigerian Copyrights Commission (NCC) to pay the outstanding debt it owed Joteco Systems Ltd. The order was as a result of a petition brought forward by member House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, on behalf of the complaints.
Sitting in Room 429, House of Representatives extension, the House Committee on Public Petition compelled NCC who claimed to have defaulted in payment due to dwindling allocation to the commission to commence install-mental payment to the family.
The main complaint, Olasupo Kolawole, in his submission at the hearing, said the unpaid debt owed his late father’s company by the Copyright Commission has led to a devastating effect on the family and winding up of his company.
Kolawole who came in company of his aged mother appreciated Honourable Benson for standing in for the voiceless in the society.
Though the Copyright Commission agreed to the position of the House Committee on Public Petition to be paying the family in installments since the money runs into millions, the Chairman asked the Petitioners to return on May 16, 2017, to tell the Committee if NCC has commenced payment.
