Rep. Babajimi Benson’s iCare Foodbank feeds 700 households for Yuletide

 

Christmas came early for some residents of Ikorodu, Lagos as the lawmaker representing the federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Benson doled out food items to 700 households through his iCARE Foodbank programme.

Benson, who is the Chairman of the House was on Defence, has sustained his tradition of reaching out to the less privileged and vulnerable in his constituency.

The beneficiaries of the Foodbank programme include widows, widowers, the aged and the less privileged people who are selected from communities across Ikorodu Division, after nomination by some individuals and organizations.

The event was held on Saturday, December 18, at the lawmaker’s constituency office along Ebute – Igbogbo road, Ikorodu.

The gesture was in line with his mandate to ensure that no family in his constituency goes to bed hungry, particularly in this festive period.

Established on October 16, 2016, the iCARE Foodbank is an initiative of Rep. Babajimi Benson’s iCare Foundation that distributes food and grocery products to individuals and vulnerable families within Ikorodu Division on monthly basis. These items are packaged in a bag called ‘APO AANU’.

Since its creation, the Foodbank has fed over 30,000 households in Ikorodu in five years.
