Hon. Babajimi Benson, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, has flagged off the construction of the Olu-Odo Road in Igbogbo.
The project, which connects several communities, promises to ease transportation and improve the quality of life for residents and motorists in Olu-Odo, Adegbose, Igbo-Agbowa, and Lajo.
Speaking through the Director-General of the iCare Foundation, Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, at the flag-off event, Benson emphasized the strategic importance of the 3.8-kilometer road.
“This road is vital to the socio-economic development of the area, linking several key communities. We expect residents to take ownership of this project, monitor its progress, and report any irregularities to ensure high-quality delivery,” Sanwoola stated.
The project, coinciding with the 36th Igbogbo Day celebrations, will feature dual drainages, streetlights, and a modern urban design, making it a transformative development for the area. Sanwoola also called on the youth and community members to avoid disruptions during the construction, urging them to cooperate with contractors for timely completion.
Builder Olusesan Daini, Chairman of the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, commended Benson for his unwavering commitment to addressing the constituency’s infrastructural needs.
“With over 70 roads completed under his tenure, this project stands out as a game-changer, connecting Olu-Odo to Igbo-Agbowa and parts of Lajo, enhancing economic activities,” Daini remarked.
A representative of the contractors reiterated the importance of community support, assuring stakeholders of prompt delivery of the project. “With everyone’s cooperation, this road will be completed in no time, bringing lasting relief to residents,” the representative added.
The event was graced by traditional leaders, community stakeholders, and dignitaries who lauded Benson’s efforts. The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Abdulsemiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, represented at the event, praised the lawmaker for his dedication to improving the constituency, assuring him of continued support from the community.
