The lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson has bagged a new chieftaincy title in his hometown in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Benson, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, was declared the ‘Otun of Ikorodu Division’ alongside his wife, Mrs. Jumoke Benson who was also named the ‘Yeye Otun of Ikorodu Division’.
The Ayangbure of Ikorodu, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi made the announcement during an event held to mark the lawmaker’s 50th birthday.
The first-class monarch spoke highly of Benson and his many achievements since he became Ikorodu’s representative in the Green Chamber, describing him as a golden son of Ikorodu.
Amid loud cheers and to the delight of the invited guests, Oba Shotobi, on behalf of all the monarchs in Ikorodu Division, then proceeded to honour the lawmaker and his wife with the traditional chieftaincy titles, and stated that a proper coronation ceremony will be held very soon.
The event, which had in attendance prominent personalities from all walks of life, was held at the Ikorodu Musical Village in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, on Tuesday. Legendary Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall was also present to entertain the guests with good music.
