The family of celebrated Nigerian musician, Innocent “Tuface” Idibia, has reported him missing since Monday, February 10, 2025.
According to a petition submitted by their legal representatives, Anuge, Anuge & Co., to the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Lagos, Tuface left his residence early that morning for his routine walk, dressed in loungewear, and has not returned since.
Efforts by family members, staff, and his record label’s management to contact or locate him have been unsuccessful. Notably, on the day of his disappearance, Tuface departed without his usual security detail, personal assistant, or any staff members, which has heightened concerns about his safety.
Adding to the family’s distress, several of Tuface’s close friends have reported receiving messages from his social media accounts soliciting financial assistance. Given Tuface’s financial independence, these messages are alarming and suggest potential foul play or coercion. The family fears that his identity may have been compromised, and that he could be under duress, with someone exploiting his contacts for monetary gain.
In their petition, the family’s legal counsel emphasized Tuface’s responsible nature, dedication to his art, and the uncharacteristic nature of his sudden disappearance. They have called upon the DSS to urgently investigate, locate, and ensure his safe return.
This development comes on the heels of recent personal challenges for the musician. In late January 2025, reports emerged of Tuface announcing his separation from his wife, Annie Idibia, via social media. He later claimed that his account had been hacked and deleted the post, stating that efforts were underway to regain control of his account.
The public and fans are urged to remain vigilant and report any information that could assist in locating Tuface to the appropriate authorities. The family’s legal representatives have expressed hope for the DSS’s prompt and effective intervention in this matter.
