Reactions trail Yahaya Bello’s revelation on presidential ambition

Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi, is again in the news for his latest comments over the forthcoming presidential election in 2023.

Speaking on Friday when he featured on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Bello disclosed that “all Nigerians” are asking him to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that he will answer their call soon.

“The youths and women and all Nigerians, including very objective elites, are asking me to run for president in 2023. And I believe that it is high time that we looked into capacity — who can do the job? who is going to unify this country? And I think they are seeing something in me that they are asking me to come and unite and fix this country,” he said.

“My answer will be affirmative in a [short] time from now. I want to urge each and everyone of us that are asking me to come and run to be patient.”

Meanwhile the governor’s statements have met with a number of reactions from a cross section of Nigerians on social media, as many call on Bello to explain those who constitute the “all Nigerians” he mentioned, saying he hasn’t earned the endorsement of the Nigerian populace as claimed.
