Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba has been re-elected as Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in the 2025 Lagos State local government elections, polling a total of 11,958 votes.

Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba, who voted at Polling Unit 008, Madan Village in Ijede, contested for re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Hon. Kabir Femi Kareem as her Vice Chairmanship candidate. She defeated her opponents, Kerubu Rotimi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 359 votes, and Olayemi Olajide of the Labour Party (LP), who scored 81 votes.

Alogba is the only woman elected as council chairman in Ikorodu Division, which comprises Ikorodu Local Government and five LCDAs: Ikorodu North, Ikorodu West, Imota, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, and Ijede. She is also currently the youngest council boss in Lagos State, at 35 years old.

She first assumed office as Ijede LCDA chairman on July 26, 2021. Before then, she served as Vice Chairman and Supervisor for Health and Environment under the administration of Alhaji Fatiu Jimoh Salisu. She was returned as APC candidate in 2025 through a consensus arrangement and was officially cleared after scoring 91% in the party’s screening exercise, with no opposition recorded.

Alogba chairs the Tenders Board Committee of the council and has led projects and programs in youth and women empowerment, skills acquisition, infrastructure, and basic education. In February 2025, she oversaw the graduation of 71 residents from the LCDA’s skill acquisition centre, with participants receiving start-up tools in fashion, catering, hairdressing, and related vocations.

Born on April 1, 1990, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Lagos State University, where she is also pursuing a Ph.D. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria.

With her re-election confirmed, Alogba is expected to continue in office alongside other elected chairmen across Lagos State following the announcement of results by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
