It was a menagerie of pride and happiness for former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Wednesday, as he decorated his son, Adeboye Obasanjo, as a Brigadier-General in the Nigerian Army.
Adeboye, alongside 234 others, were promoted by the military authorities last December.
The occasion, held at the Nigerian Engineering Corp at the Bonny Camp, Lagos, was a historic homecoming for the former Military Head of State, who was also in the Nigerian Army Engineer Corps while in the military. Just his father, Adeboye is of the Engineer Corps.
Obasanjo, a former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was accorded a rare privilege by the military authorities to decorate his son with his new promotion.
The two-term civilian President who is also a retired Army General was accompanied by Towulade of Akinale Kingdom of Egbaland, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye to the occasion.
The newly decorated younger Obasanjo holds two Master Degrees and other professional qualifications.
In the course of his military career, Adeboye attended courses both in Nigeria and abroad. He also served in various formations and units of the Nigerian Army, where he held different appointments.
