President William Ruto of Kenya made a decisive move on Thursday by dismissing all his cabinet members, excluding key positions, in response to ongoing anti-tax protests that have rocked the nation.
In a live broadcast addressing the nation, President Ruto stated, “Upon reflection and after a thorough assessment of the cabinet’s performance and challenges, and in accordance with the powers vested in me by Article 152(1) and 152(5)(b) of the Constitution, and Section 12 of the Office of the Attorney-General Act, I have decided to terminate the appointments of all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General, effective immediately, except for the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.”
The protests, primarily against the anti-Finance Bill, have intensified, prompting President Ruto to take this significant step to address public discontent.
