President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian lawyer, Mr. Tolu Obamuroh, on his elevation to the partnership of White & Case LLP, one of the world’s leading international law firms headquartered in New York.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, President Tinubu described Obamuroh’s achievement as a testament to Nigerian excellence, resilience, and professionalism on the global stage.
Obamuroh will officially assume his role as a Partner in the firm’s International Arbitration Practice in Paris on January 1, 2026. He is one of only three new partners appointed globally in the practice area and the only one based in the Paris office, one of the firm’s 46 offices worldwide.
Significantly, he is also the only Nigerian-qualified lawyer in this year’s global partner class, underscoring his professional distinction and the growing influence of Nigerian legal talent internationally.
According to the statement, Tolu has built a remarkable career representing sovereign states and multinational corporations in complex, high-value cross-border disputes across the energy and infrastructure sectors. Under the supervision of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, he also continues to serve as a trusted adviser to the Government of Nigeria in various international legal matters.
President Tinubu hailed the elevation as a reflection of Nigerian competence, resilience, and global excellence, noting that Tolu’s success symbolizes the Renewed Hope vision of a Nigeria whose citizens are defined by merit, integrity, and global impact.
The President also urged young Nigerians to draw inspiration from Obamuroh’s journey, emphasizing that his story proves that with dedication, discipline, and service, young Nigerians can lead globally.
He joined Tolu’s family, colleagues, and the legal community in celebrating what he described as a well-deserved milestone achievement.
