President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the sacking of the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Dr Nasiru Argungu.
This development was confirmed, on Tuesday, by the Senior Special Assistant the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.
Shehu explained that the president’s directive on the sacking of Argungu was effective from December 7, though issued on Friday. The reason for this decision, however, is yet to be disclosed.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, under whose supervision the agency lies, has been directed to nominate an acting Director General to replace Argungu, from amongst the most Senior Directors in the NDE “until a substantive holder of the post is appointed by Mr President”.
