By President Muhammadu Buhari has named a new Chief of Army Staff (COAS). He is Major-General Farouk Yahaya.
With his appointment, Farouk Yahaya replaces the late COAS, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, who died last week Friday, May 21, in a Military plane crash in Kaduna, alongside 10 other Military officers.
Prior to this new posting, Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the Theatre Commander of a Military counter-terrorism unit in the North East.
His appointment is with immediate effect.
