Presidency Officially Hands Over Presidential Lodge, Marina To Lagos State
Officials of the Presidency were in Lagos on Thursday to officially hand over the magnificent Presidential Lodge located in Marina area of Lagos. The handing over is in fulfillment of promise made by President Muhammadu Buhari some months ago.
It will be recalled that President Buhari before going on medial vacation had promised to hand over the building and entrusted the edifice to Lagos State for Tourism development.
The handing over ceremony was held at the Main Conference Room of the Lodge had in attendance officials of the Federal and State Governments led by the Permanent Secretary of the Presidency, Mr Jalal Arabi and Secretary to the State, Mr Olatunji Bello respectively.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both officials of the Federal and Lagos State Government, an event which formally transferred ownership of the edifice to the beneficiary.
Speaking at te event, Mr Bello disclosed that the Akinwunmi Ambode Administration would not compromise the structural integrity of the edifice while preserving the architectural finesse and beauty. He said theState Government would ensure the edifice becomes a tourist attraction.
The SSG on behalf of the State Governor and People of the State expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for his statesman-like gesture in the approval of the release and also to Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo for ensuring that the handover process became realisable. He also mentioned Minister of Power, Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola for his untiring assistance which ensured the success of the transfer.
