Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello, a popular Islamic preacher and scholar, has passed away at the age of 84.
The heartbreaking news was shared by Sheikh Akeugbagold Taofeeq, also an Islamic preacher, on his Facebook page. He wrote:
“Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his Creator. SULTANUL WAHIZEEN of Yorubaland, Sheikh Muhyideen AJANI BELLO, may Allah be pleased with your soul. Aljannah Firdaus for you. Our hearts are full of grief, and our eyes full of tears, but we will say nothing except what will please our Creator, the sole commander of life and death – ALLAH.”
This news was further confirmed by his son, Alhaji Basit Olanrewaju Katibi Bello, popularly known as Aponle Anobi, who shared the information on social media accompanied by crying emojis.
Sheikh Muhyideen Ajani Bello was born in 1940 to the family of Alhaji Bello Ajani and Alhaja Ubaidat Bello of Arolu Compound, Ita Olukoyi, Ibadan. He began his education at I.D.C. Primary School in Elekuro, Ibadan, where he also attended secondary school. From 1963 to 1967, he studied Arabic and Islamic knowledge at Mahdul Arabiy in Elekuro, solidifying his reputation as a respected Islamic scholar.
Sheikh Muhyideen was well-known for his bold and fearless lectures, often speaking truth to power and addressing societal issues. In addition to his lectures, Sheikh Muhyideen released notable recordings such as “Ibaje Oselu”, “Kilobayeje,” among many others.
As of the time of this report, the cause of his death has not been disclosed.
