Nigerian gospel singer and evangelist Bunmi Akinnaanu, widely celebrated for her soul‑stirring worship anthem “Omije Ojumi”, has passed away after a prolonged battle with illness.
Her death was confirmed by her family in a statement shared on Instagram by fellow gospel artiste Alayo Melody.
The statement revealed that Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, died on January 12, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos, Nigeria.
The family asked for prayers for her soul and for comfort for her loved ones during this difficult time.
Bunmi rose to national prominence with “Omije Ojumi”, a song that became a favourite in many churches and Christian gatherings across the country.
Her music, known for its deep spiritual resonance and worshipful tone, touched the lives of many believers over the years.
In late 2025, the singer’s health became a concern after videos surfaced online showing her receiving prayers during a church service in Ibadan for a serious leg ailment, including persistent bleeding and swelling. Well‑wishers and fellow gospel musicians had rallied around her with prayer and support as her condition continued.
