The political atmosphere in Osun State has grown tense as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) alleges a plot to assassinate Governor Ademola Adeleke. The party claims that the crisis surrounding Saturday’s local government elections is being manipulated to destabilize the state.

Speaking at the PDP secretariat in Osogbo, the party’s chairman, Sunday Bisi, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of fueling unrest since their 2022 electoral defeat. He also alleged that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, deployed special forces to interfere in local governance, describing the move as an “attempted coup.”

Beyond the political rhetoric, these allegations raise critical concerns about security, governance, and the role of federal agencies in state affairs. Observers note that political tensions in Osun have been escalating, with both major parties accusing each other of power grabs and election manipulation.

While the PDP has called for international intervention, political analysts argue that these claims should be substantiated with concrete evidence. The Osun State Police Command has yet to respond to the allegations, leaving questions about the security situation and the upcoming election.
