The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued six law students of the Nigerian Law School, Yola Campus, who were abducted on July 26, 2025, while traveling from Anambra to Adamawa State.
The students were kidnapped along the volatile Wukari-Benue axis, a route notorious for security threats and frequent abductions.
The incident sparked national concern over the safety of law school students in transit.
Confirming the rescue in a statement on Friday, August 1, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edet Udeme, said the victims were safely recovered and have since been reunited with their families.
“Police authorities confirmed the rescue, assuring the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property,” Udeme stated.
Authorities have not disclosed whether any ransom was paid, but emphasized that efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators and prevent future incidents along the route.
The rescue has been widely commended by families and stakeholders in the legal community, who had earlier called for urgent intervention.
