The Nigeria Police Force has removed Benjamin Hundeyin from his position as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), barely six months after he assumed the role as the official spokesperson of the police.

The decision was reportedly approved by the newly appointed Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as part of an ongoing restructuring within the police hierarchy following the recent leadership transition in the force.

Sources within the police said the removal forms one of the first major administrative changes under Disu’s leadership, coming shortly after Bola Ahmed Tinubu swore him in as the country’s 23rd Inspector-General of Police.

Hundeyin had been appointed as the police spokesperson in September 2025 by former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, replacing Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who was redeployed to another command.

Before his appointment at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Hundeyin served as the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, where he gained national attention for his active communication with the public through digital platforms and media engagements.

As of the time of reporting, the police authorities have not officially announced the reason for his removal or the officer who will replace him as the Force Public Relations Officer.
