The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has declared activist, and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, wanted for allegedly plotting to cause public disorder in the state.
According to the command, it is revealed that Sowore and some associates were making arrangements to stage protests at strategic locations, including the Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki Toll Gate and Freedom Park.
The Commissioner of Police said the planned action was intended to obstruct major roads and disrupt the peace of Lagos residents. He directed Sowore to surrender himself at the nearest police station or face arrest wherever he is found.
Fayoade said the command would not allow any individual or group to destabilize the state under any guise, stressing that the right to protest must not translate into the breakdown of law and order.
This development adds to the activist’s longrunning confrontation with security agencies, following previous arrests and detentions over his activism and public demonstrations.
