American rapper Offset has been hospitalised after he was shot during an incident outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Monday night, authorities have confirmed.
The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. in the valet area of the entertainment complex in Hollywood, where the artiste had reportedly been seen interacting with fans moments before the incident.
Police said the rapper, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment, where he is currently in stable condition and under close medical observation.
In a statement, the Seminole Police Department confirmed that officers responded swiftly to the scene and were able to contain the situation quickly. Two individuals have been detained in connection with the shooting, while investigations remain ongoing to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the attack.
Authorities also reassured the public that the area is secure and that operations at the casino have continued as normal, with no ongoing threat to public safety.
Offset, a member of the Grammy-nominated hip-hop group Migos, rose to global fame with hits such as “Bad and Boujee” and “Versace.”
The incident has drawn widespread concern among fans and the music community, particularly as it comes years after the fatal shooting of his fellow group member, Takeoff, in 2022.
The rapper had three children with fellow artiste, Cardi B during their marriage between 2017 and 2022.
As of press time, law enforcement officials say further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
