The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspects linked to the armed robbery and attempted murder of Nigerian musician, Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh, at Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos.

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that operatives, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the suspects on September 11, 2025, at Na’ibawa Quarters in Kano.

The suspects were identified as 25-year-old Mathew Adewole of Na’ibawa Quarters, and 31-year-old Mukhtar Muhammad of Unguwa Uku Quarters.

According to Kiyawa, Adewole confessed to leading the attack on Lil Kesh on August 19, 2025, during which the artist sustained severe injuries, including a deep cut to the neck. The assault, he said, was carried out with the intent to rob and murder.

The police revealed that Adewole forced the singer to transfer N2,120,000 from his mobile phone to the account of his accomplice, Mukhtar Muhammad, after which they attempted to flee.

SP Kiyawa confirmed that the suspects have been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

He added that the operation was conducted under the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who has ordered intensified intelligence-led policing and stronger community collaboration to tackle violent crimes nationwide.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the operatives for their swift action and assured residents of the command’s commitment to safety.

“The Kano State Police Command remains committed to maintaining law and public order, working closely with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to combating crime,” CP Bakori stated.
