As the sun dipped below the Lagos skyline, signalling the end of the day’s fast, relief and gratitude spread across parts of Isale Eko where hundreds of residents received food packages through a Ramadan outreach organised by the PEPC Foundation.

The foundation, founded by Barrister Lukman Akinsanya, hosted a Ramadan Iftar Food Tour in February 2026, distributing over 2,000 food items to vulnerable residents in collaboration with the City Boy Movement.

Rather than confining the traditional breaking of fast to banquet halls and private gatherings, the organisers took the initiative directly to the streets.

Moving through the historic Isale Eko community with an electro van, volunteers shared meals and interacted with residents, many of whom expressed appreciation for the timely support amid rising economic hardship.

Barr. Akinsanya who was awarded Lagos Youth of the year in 2022 saw the gesture as an inspiration towards the core teachings of Ramadan.

This year outreach kick-started at the palace of Olorogun Adodo of Lagos and supported by the City Boy Movement, focused on promoting unity, compassion, and shared responsibility.

Organisers described it as more than a food distribution exercise, calling it a community-building effort designed to remind residents that they are not alone during challenging times.

Residents were encouraged to engage with the outreach team, wave at the electro van as it moved through the neighbourhood, and share stories of kindness.

In 2025, the foundation supported 10,000 people with iftar meal, reaching a substantial amounts of muslim faithfuls.

With 2,000 food items distributed, the PEPC Foundation said its projection for this year is to feed 40,000 people in 20 days.

It also hopes to expand similar humanitarian activities in the future, reinforcing its message for the season: together, communities can eat, pray, and grow.
