According to a statement issued on Thursday, by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the party received the news with deep shock, noting that the Deputy Governor reportedly collapsed and passed away earlier in the day.

The statement said the development has thrown the National Working Committee, led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), and the entire PDP membership, particularly in Bayelsa State, into profound grief. It described Senator Ewhrudjakpo as a steadfast and principled politician whose political career was built on conviction, integrity, and strong moral character. The party noted that he remained committed to these values until his final moments.

Before assuming that position in 2019, he represented Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, where he earned recognition for his legislative contributions and constituency development efforts. His career in public service also included a tenure as Bayelsa State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, during which he oversaw key development and reconstruction projects.

A committed member of the PDP, Ewhrudjakpo was widely respected for his calm disposition, administrative competence, and loyalty to party ideals. With academic training in communication, public administration, and law, he combined technocratic insight with political experience to emerge as an influential voice in both state and national politics. He was often described as a leader anchored on integrity, service, and the advancement of Bayelsa State.

The PDP extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Bayelsa State, praying for the repose of his soul.
