The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing a dilemma in Anambra State as no aspirant has purchased the party’s nomination form for the November 8, 2025 governorship election, despite setting a deadline of March 7 for submission.
The party initially scheduled the sale of forms between February 24 and March 5, but extended the deadline by six days to March 12.
According to sources, many aspirants decided not to buy the forms due to the leadership crisis within the party, particularly at the national level.
The PDP pegged the expression of interest and nomination forms at N40 million, a significant increase from the N26 million charged in the 2021 governorship election.
The party’s governorship primary in Anambra is scheduled for April 5, followed by an appeal committee sitting on April 8.
However, the lack of interest in purchasing the nomination forms has raised concerns about the party’s chances in the upcoming election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned political parties against making sudden changes to their primary schedules, reminding them that the primaries are set to start on March 20 and end on April 10.
