The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made a bold decision at its national convention in Ibadan on Saturday, announcing the expulsion of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory; Ayodele Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State; Samuel Anyanwu, its suspended national secretary, and eight other members for alleged anti‑party activities.
The motion for expulsion was moved by former national vice‑chairman Olabode George and seconded by Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State.
The decision came alongside the dissolution of PDP executives in Rivers, Abia, Imo, Plateau and Enugu states.
In the official communiqué obtained by BlackBox Nigeria, the party cited Section 33(2) of its 2017 Constitution in justifying the expulsions.
The expelled members have been accused of canvassing votes for rival parties, sponsoring parallel congresses, and engaging in litigation against the PDP.
The move marks a significant power‑restructuring within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections and appears aimed at consolidating control among loyalists.
