Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting he was seen brandishing a firearm in a now-viral video.

The footage, which drew widespread attention, showed the popular Lagos-based cleric inside a vehicle holding an object that many online speculated was a gun or possibly a taser when a content creator tried to get his attention.

The clip quickly sparked concerns and debate, with some accusing the pastor of carrying a weapon.

In a statement released on Saturday, Pastor Adefarasin addressed the controversy, clarifying that the object in question was not a firearm and that at no point did he threaten or point any such item at anyone.

“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” he wrote.

“I want to assure you of this, that, that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”

He attributed the uproar to a mischief and promised to offer further explanation during his church’s 9:00 a.m. service on Sunday.

“We understand the concern that this accusation may have caused, and we will speak briefly to this mischief during the service tomorrow,” the statement read.

The pastor’s response has prompted many of his followers to call for calm and patience as they await the full account of the incident.

Pastor Adefarasin is known for his influential sermons and high-profile ministry, and has previously advised both national leaders and international faith communities.
