First set of passengers who arrived Abuja on Tuesday aboard an Airbus A350 belonging to Ethiopian Airline were shocked as they were hopeful of landing in Kaduna Airport, a destination that has been in use for the past six weeks.
According to a passenger, simply identified as Halilu, they were shocked when the Chief Pilot announced that the airbus will be landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Halilu revealed that though it was good to have the airport back in operation, but it was a mixed feelings for him as his driver was already waiting for him at Kaduna Airport.
Some other passengers, including foreigners who are on their first visit to Nigeria revealed their happiness to land in a newly repaired airport.
It will be recalled that the Abuja airport was closed for repairs after some aviation expert disclosed that the repair of runway was important as it was currently a disaster waiting to happen.
Following different developments, the airport was finally announced closed by the Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, who pledged to reopen it in exact 6 weeks after closure.
The Minister also promised to resign if the deadline date was not met by the repairs.
The reopening on Tuesday came a day before the lapse of 6 weeks as promised by the aviation expert, a feat that has since gotten recommendation from aviation watchers.
