[tps_header][/tps_header][tps_header][/tps_header]Pa Reuben Fasoranti has stepped down as the National Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, due to old age.
NAN reported that the nonagenarian made this known during the group’s monthly meeting held at his residence in Akure, the Ondo state capital, on Tuesday.
To replace him, the 95-year-old named the former deputy leader, Ayo Adebanjo, as the acting national leader of the group.
Adebanjo is a lawyer, journalist and politician of the Awolowo school of thought.
Explaining his decision, Pa Fasoranti said the development was necessary for the development of the organisation in order to improve its capacity and effectiveness in advancing the interests of the Yoruba nation.
In a related development, the former financial secretary, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, the Alaago of Kajola Ago, Atakumosa East Council Area of Osun State was elevated to become the group’s deputy leader.
