Outrage In Mile 12 As Ikeja Electric Disconnects Supply, Uses Nigerian Army To Scare Off Consumers

 

 

Fresh reports reaching BlackBox Nigeria that the officials of electricity distribution company in Lagos, Ikeja Electric hired officers of the Nigerian Army to scare off consumers as they disconnect them from the grid.

A resident of Fadare Street, Mile 12 disclosed to BlackBox Nigeria that the Ikeja Electric stormed the area on Friday, July 31st with intimidating soldiers to disconnect the entire neighbourhood from the grid.

While describing the act as illegal, he added that it was a well planned act by the electricity distribution company (DISCO) as they came for the operation with well armed soldiers. He added that the community has been thrown into black out with residents and small scale businesses in the area left to depend on their generating sets for power supply.

He further added that the motive behind the act is unknown to the residents as even as they have been struggling to keep up with paying the estimated bills being calculated by Ikeja Electric as efforts to get prepared meter are been frustrated by the company in order to continue with the estimated billing which has been categorised as ridiculously high.
