The Nigeria Police Force has come under criticism following the circulation of a video showing officers stopping a vehicle and allegedly moving a bag to a secluded area for a search.

The video posted on The People’s Parliament Facebook page has sparked concerns over transparency and possible misconduct.

In the video shared on social media, the policemen were seen flagging down a car before taking possession of a bag from the occupants.

Rather than conducting the search at the point of interception, the officers reportedly moved to a corner away from public view, raising suspicion among observers.

A caption accompanying the video condemned the officers’ actions, describing the move as “very wrong” and suggesting that taking the search out of public sight could indicate illegal activity.

The post further called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, to investigate the incident and ensure that the officers involved are sanctioned.

“Why take them to a corner to search them? Definitely, they are doing something illegal in that corner,” the caption read, reflecting widespread public concern.

The incident has reignited conversations around police accountability, with many Nigerians insisting that searches should be conducted openly and in accordance with established procedures to prevent abuse of power.

As of the time of filing this report, the police authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the video.

However, public pressure continues to mount for a thorough investigation and disciplinary action if wrongdoing is established.
