In the now-viral video, three police officers could be seen assaulting the two boys and almost bundled them into their patrol van, despite pleas by the victims that they didn’t commit any crime.
The incident occurred shortly after students and residents of Ilorin raised concerns over the increasing rate of police harassment in the area.
Reacting to the development, the Students Union President of the University of Ilorin, Taofik Waliu, on Tuesday, met with the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Tuesday Assayomo to address this issue.
The Commissioner had promised to put an end to the situation, while stating conditions to be followed by both students and police officers to avoid such incidents.
In January, two students of Kwara State Polytechnic were allegedly killed by stray bullets from police detectives who stormed the institution to nab suspected cultists.
