Outrage As Boko Haram Suspect Picks APC Ticket To Contest In Benue State Election

A public outrage has trailed the announcement of one Alhaji Aliyu Tashaku to contest in the forthcoming election in Makurdi/Gurma Federal Constituency on the platform of All Progressives Congress.

It was gathered that the said Alhaji Tashaku was recently arrested with ammunitions and suspected to be a member of the dreaded boko haram sect. He was paraded publicly after his arrest. He has however joined the ruling party, the APC to run for the position as a Federal lawmaker.

Findings by BlackBox Nigeria revealed that Tashaku was a self confessed member of the boko haram group. It was reported that he allegedly joined the terrorist group after sharing a cell with the founder, Mohammed Yusuf while he was in detention at Force Headquarters. He was also accused by the sect of eloping with its 2009 budget for arms and ammunitions after he escaped from the group.

In 2018, Tashaku was appointed as the leader of Benue Livestock Guards by Governor Samuel Ortom. He was responsible for enforcing the Anti-Grazing Law signed into practice by the State Government.

Ahmad Salkida, a well known journalist with verified links to the leadership of boko haram had in 2018 revealed how high ranking commanders of the sect were enjoying friendships with political office holders in the Northern region following the appointment of Tashaku.
