Ademuyiwa Balikis
Ijebu-Ode was filled with joy and celebration as Michele Balogun, the first granddaughter of the late founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Otunba Subomi Balogun, married her partner, Imeyen George Akai.
The bride, Michele, is one of the twin daughters of Bolaji Balogun, Otunba Subomi’s first son. Bolaji is a co-founder of Airtel Nigeria, Chairman of Unilever Nigeria Plc, former Chairman of Lafarge Africa, and the Chief Executive Officer of Chapel Hill Denham.
Her mother, Kemi Aig-Imoukhuede, popularly known as Servant Leader SL, is the daughter of playwright and poet Frank Aig-Imoukhuede and younger sister to former Access Bank CEO, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.
The groom; Imeyen George Akai is an engineer with many years of experience working with top multinationals including Shell Canada and Guvnor Oil & Gas. He is an alumnus of both the University of Ottawa and Stanford Graduate Business School. He also serves as a director at Akai Farms Ltd, a family owned agribusiness. He is the son of Anniediong Eyo Akai and Ifueko Iyabo Akai.
The wedding ceremony brought together relatives and associates of the Balogun, Aig-Imoukhuede, and Akai families to celebrate the union of Michele and Imeyen in Ijebu-Ode.
