The Chairman of Otto-Awori Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, Prince Musbau Ashafa, has died at the age of 65.
Ashafa, a prince of the Ijanikin kingdom, reportedly passed away late Friday, 13 June 2025, after battling an undisclosed illness for several months.
Sources said Ashafa had been absent from public functions for some time, with his Chief of Staff and younger brother, Waliu Ashafa, handling most of the council’s official duties during his illness.
He was serving his second term as Chairman of the LCDA at the time of his death.
Prior to that, he held the position of Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Otto-Awori LCDA.
Ashafa first rose to political prominence in 1997 under the military regime of the late General Sani Abacha, when he was elected Chairman of the old Ojo Local Government during the Zero Party elections.
Since then, he remained a consistent political figure in the Ojo axis, culminating in his leadership roles within the APC and his eventual emergence as the council chairman.
