Galatasaray and Super Eagles Forward, Victor Osimhen, has reportedly threatened to quit the national team following a dramatic fallout during Nigeria’s 4–0 AFCON 2025 win over Mozambique.
Despite his impressive performance, scoring twice in the knockout match, tensions flared after a heated exchange with teammate Ademola Lookman on the pitch.
The disagreement, which occurred in the second half, led to Osimhen asking to be substituted, skipping the team celebration, and heading straight to the dressing room.
Reports claim he later dropped his accreditation card and expressed a desire to leave camp, potentially returning to his club, Galatasaray.
While Lookman later downplayed the clash as part of normal football emotions, the incident has sparked concerns about unity in the Super Eagles camp ahead of their quarter-final clash which will be drawn against Algeria or DR Congo.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has reacted to the development, saying that Osimhen has not quit.
