Oshiomhole, El-Rufai appointed Tinubu’s campaign heads

A former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole and the Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai have been appointed to head the campaign council of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The duo are expected to be formally unveiled in the coming days, as the campaign for the 2023 elections is set to kickstart in September.

Oshiomhole will serve as the chairman of the campaign team, while El-rufai will take charge as director-general.

It would be recalled that the former National Chairman of the APC and the Kaduna State governor were among the stakeholders who met with the APC flagbearer behind closed doors at his Abuja residence on Tuesday.

Others who were in attendance include the APC vice-presidential candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima; the party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore; Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle.

Though Tinubu’s camp is yet to reveal details about the meeting, sources say its essence was to discuss the selection of competent hands to steer the ship of the campaign council, particularly amid the backlash that followed the decision of the ruling party to opt a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
