Ortom Suspends Benue SEMA Boss Over Diversion Of Relief Materials

Governor Samuel Ortom have approved the immediate suspension of Dr Boniface Ortese, the Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Maintenance Agency  (SEMA) for irregularities of the agency in recent happenings in the camps around the State.

Dr Ortese’s suspension was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Ijohor in Makurdi.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the suspension of the SEMA boss may be connected to diversion of relief materials for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) who were affected by the flood in the State recently. It will be recalled that the IDPs staged a protest on September 12th as they accused the camp officials of transferring items donated to their camps to unknown destinations.

Professor Ijohor in his statement didn’t disclose the reason for the SEMA boss and also didn’t state how long the suspension is expected to last but Mr Titus Zam, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has been asked to oversee the affairs of the agency and smooth closure of Internally Displaced Persons’ camps in the State.
