Operatives of Operation Crush have confirmed the arrest of nine cult heads in the Imota, Ikorodu area of Lagos state.
This was confirmed in a release sent to Blackbox Nigeria and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana.
The force PRO said that the Imota Police Station had on Friday received reliable information from a credible source that some cultists on Police wanted list were sighted in Igbalu community.
Operatives of operation crush attached to the Division were promptly deployed to the area were two suspects namely , Emmanuel Chinonso, male,21and Thomas Israel, male, 20, were arrested.
Items recovered from them include, two battle axe, knife and one beret belonging to the Eiye confraternity.
The suspects confessed that they are key leaders of Eiye Confraternity and that their gang is responsible for series of violent attacks recorded in Imota, Ikorodu.
The Operatives also confirmed the arrest of seven additional suspects following an investigation conducted between Saturday and Sunday. The suspects were identified as : Ariyo Omonuga, male, 25, Oyerinde Omoniyi , male, 23, Adelaja Opeyemi, male, 28, Hassan Babatunde, male, 26, Sodiq Babatunde, male, 24, Sodiq Oladire, male, 22, and Shakiru Liasu, male,18,
“Investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged to Court” DSP Bala said.
