Onyinyechi Basil, who represented Anambra State, has emerged as Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 after a glamorous finale held at the Balmoral Event Centre in Lagos on Saturday.
Basil was crowned after an intense competition that saw her and Miss Lagos, Damilola Bolarinde, advance to the final two. She succeeds Chidimma Adetshina, last year’s titleholder, and will now represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe 2025 international pageant.
The event, organized by the Silverbird Group, featured 22 finalists from across the country, each showcasing their beauty, poise, intelligence, and commitment to social causes.
Contestants participated in multiple rounds including swimsuit, evening gown, and a question and answer session, before the judges made their final decision.
Speaking after her victory, Basil expressed her gratitude and outlined her advocacy focus, pledging to dedicate her reign to advancing women’s education and empowerment, while encouraging young girls to embrace their cultural identity and strive for excellence.
Her win marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the new face of Nigeria’s representation on the global stage, carrying both the crown and the responsibility to promote meaningful causes beyond aesthetics.
With her victory, Basil now prepares for the Miss Universe 2025 contest, where she will join delegates from across the world in a bid to bring the global crown home to Nigeria.
