Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika was the standout performer as Nigeria secured a 3-1 win over Uganda on Tuesday night, wrapping up their Group C campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a perfect record.

The match, played at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Morocco, saw Nigeria dominate from the onset. Paul Onuachu opened the scoring in the first half with a powerful header, giving the Eagles early control of the tie.

But it was Raphael Onyedika who stole the show with a second-half brace. The 24-year-old midfielder struck twice with confident finishes. His first coming from a low drive after a flowing team move, and the second, a composed strike from the edge of the box that left Uganda’s keeper stranded.

Uganda managed a consolation goal late in the game through Rogers Mato, but it was too little, too late for the East African side, who now exit the tournament after failing to win a match.

The result means Nigeria top Group C with nine points from three matches, having already defeated Tanzania and Tunisia earlier in the tournament. The Super Eagles now head into the knockout stage full of confidence, with Onyedika’s commanding display providing a timely midfield boost.

Nigeria will next face one of the third-best placed teams from another group in the Round of 16.
