Emmerging facts have indicated that the suspended and detained chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Ibrahim Magu, may after all not be granted bail by the police, BlackBox Nigeria learnt.
According to a top-notcher of the police, who spoke on plea of anonimity, only the presidency can effect Magu being granted bail because of the nature of the matter.
“Don’t forget that he appeared in a Panel set up by the presidency.
“He was not directly arrested by the police. So, we all are aware of the interest of the presidency in his matters.
“Those asking when and how the Inspector-general General of Police, IGP, will grant him bail, should seek audience with the officials of the presidency”. The police officer said.
He further added that : “This case is very unlike the Ajelogo or Akanimodo Markets area boys (street urchins), some operatives from Ketu police station has been hunting for and finally caught up with him.
“This is a special case, please. You guys should reach out to your colleague, Mr Femi Adesina at the presidency” the officer admonished our Correspondent.
Echibong , another senior police officer, said “even if today, it is reported that the IGP has granted Magu bail, the police would merely be acting on the instructions of the presidency who he said “holds the knife and the yam”.
On the alleged hunger strike embarked upon by Magu, the first officer who spoke to our correspondent said,”you know the man (Magu) is a big man. May be their food is below what a man of his status should be served”.
