A new civic and resource hub, the Onigbinde Centre, has officially opened in Ogbomoso, with its founders highlighting alignment with the 25years development plan of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III.

The Centre, established by civic technologist and BudgIT co-founder Olúṣeun Onígbindé, is designed as a collaborative space for learning, innovation, and community engagement. Located in the heart of Ogbomoso, it aims to host programs that will strengthen local talent, foster dialogue, and empower young people.

Speaking about the launch, Onigbinde said the project was inspired by Oba Olaoye’s long term vision for Ogbomoso. The monarch has articulated a 25years blueprint to transform the city’s economic and social landscape, with a focus on infrastructure, digital economy, health, education, tourism, and cultural preservation.

“We are inspired by the Soun’s vision for Ogbomoso, which looks far beyond short-term development,” Onigbinde said in a statement shared on X. “Our goal with the Centre is to create a space that nurtures ideas, empowers communities, and supports that future.”

During the visit, Onigbinde also toured The Assembly, a separate innovation hub in the city led by Ennovate Lab, describing the initiative as “breathtaking.”

Community leaders and residents have welcomed the Centre, seeing it as part of a growing movement to position Ogbomoso as a hub for education, innovation, and industry.

The Soun of Ogbomoso’s 25years plan was formally presented in late 2023 and seeks to position the ancient city for sustainable growth, job creation, and industrial development.
