Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Olalekan Balogun, Dies Two Days After Celebrating Two Years on Throne
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan Balogun, has passed away at the age of 81.
The 42nd Olubadan died just days after commemorating his second year coronation anniversary, according to his media aide, Dele Ogunsola, who confirmed the news late Thursday evening.
Oba Balogun passed away at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan shortly after being admitted, according to news reaching BlackBox Nigeria.
Sources revealed that the traditional ruler, who ascended the throne on 11 March 2022 following the demise of his predecessor, Oba Saliu Adetunji, breathed his last on Thursday after two years of reign.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State confirmed the monarch’s passing in a statement released by his Special Adviser, Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Thursday night, hailing the late Olubadan as an epitome of royal excellence and a remarkable achiever who left an indelible mark on Ibadanland in his short reign.
