Galatasaray and Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has opened up on one of his personal rituals before stepping onto the pitch for any football match, revealing that music plays a key role in his mental preparation.
Osimhen disclosed that he regularly listens to songs by Nigerian rapper Olamide, American hip-hop icon Nas, and Jamaican reggae star Damian Marley to get himself fired up before games.
The forward made the revelation during an interview on the Smallie YouTube Channel, where he reflected on his journey into football and how music continues to inspire him.
“Growing up, I already had it in my mind that football is what I want to do,” Osimhen said.
“Most of the time, I listen to Olamide. I also listen to Nas and Damian Marley. Strong Will continues to motivate me.”
According to him, the songs serve as a powerful source of motivation as he mentally prepares for matches.
“It’s really a motivating song for me when I’m going for a match. These have been a few of my rituals,” he added.
Osimhen also revealed his favourite Olamide track to listen to before kickoff, identifying King Shit as his go-to song.
“My favourite Olamide song before a match is King Shit: ‘Don’t worry about tomorrow, forget your sorrow, forget about the shoes and clothes you borrowed,’” he said.
