The Lagos State University was agog yesterday as Ishaq Lakin Akintola P.hD (Professor of Islamic Eschatology) delivered his Inaugural Lecture which marked the 58th for the State’s varsity.
The lecture titled “OH GOD! WHAT HAVE WE DONE? The lecture was centered on the excesses of Nigerians in serving the almighty God. It was held at the University Main Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
The inaugural lecturer queried Nigerian attitudes of ‘over’ practising their religions which they sometimes use to disturb their opposite believers.
He noted the need of all Nigerians to be tolerant when practising their religions just as he also mentioned the need to curb noise pollution in religious houses. He advocated that the government should seal up any mosques/churches found wanting for a period of 6months.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor ‘Lanre Fagbohun led the Academic team and the management of the institution which were present at the inaugural lecture. Also present at the event were some Members of the University Senate and dignitaries invited.
Top Lagos politician and Lawyer, Mr Muiz Banire SAN and Lagos State Commissioner of Home Affairs, Dr Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef were also among the invited guests of the inaugural lecturer.
