President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation, effective March 7, 2025.

The information was contained in a press release signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy) on Tuesday 4th March, 2025.

The appointment comes after a thorough selection process, which involved a written assessment, ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews with Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service.

Ogunjimi, 57, was initially named as the successor to the incumbent Oluwatoyin Madehin last December.

His appointment underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to promoting transparency, excellence, and competence in key public service positions.

Ogunjimi boasts an impressive academic background, graduating from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in 1990.

He also holds a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

President Tinubu has congratulated Ogunjimi on his appointment, urging him to discharge his duties with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to Nigeria’s service.
