Ogun Speaker arrested over alleged financial forgery

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo has landed in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to reports, operatives of the anti-graft agency, following a tip-off, arrested Oluomo at the Muritala Muhammad Airport, Lagos, on Wednesday morning.

It was learnt that the embattled Speaker was nabbed in connection with recent allegations of financial crimes levelled against him.

Oluomo was accused of forgery, financial misappropriation and embezzlement of funds.

He was said to have been taken to the Lagos office of the EFCC for questioning, after allegedly failing to honour invitations of the commission.

The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, hasn’t issued a statement about the development at the time of filing this report.
