The growing trend of young men opting to perform diabolical rituals in order to get rich quick is fast becoming a worrisome phenomenon.
Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three teenage boys in the Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta, for reportedly burning a human head for money rituals.
Report has it that the suspects were caught in the early hours of Saturday, following the tip off by one Segun Adewusi, a local vigilante.
The victim, identified as Rofiat, was said to be the girlfriend of one of the perpetrators.
According to a Twitter user @letter_to_jack, the suspects lured Rofiat into their house, broke her neck and cut her head off with a machete.
“They left Rofiat’s lifeless body in their room with blood all over, locked the door and proceeded to an uncompleted building to burn the head,” he wrote.
Adewusi perceived the smell coming from the uncompleted building. When he got to the scene, he saw that they were roasting a human head, and reported to the police authorities.
According to The PUNCH, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi also confirmed the incident, saying the three boys are currently in custody.
He said, “Three young boys whose ages range between 17and 20 years were in the early hours of Saturday 29th of January 2022 arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for killing a girlfriend of their friend for money making ritual.
“On interrogation, the arrested suspects confessed that what they were burning in the local pot is the head of the girlfriend of their escaped accomplice.
“They confessed further that the girl who was simply identified as Rofiat was lured by her boyfriend simply identified as Soliu to where she was murdered by four of them, after which they cut off her head and packed the remains in a sack, and dumped it in an old building.
“They subsequently led policemen to the building, where the dismembered body was recovered and deposited at general hospital mortuary for autopsy.
“The short cutlass and a knife used in cutting off the deceased head were also recovered.”
